Turnerbad

The first swimming pool in Güssing - the 'Turnerbad' was built in 1934 by the then D.T.V. on a 4300 m2 leasehold plot at the southwestern end of Güssing (at the then AGIP gas station). It had a large swimming pool and a children's pool and was closed off on the street side by a cabin wing. The bottom of the pool was concreted, the side walls were made of wood. The water for the Turnerbad was supplied by the rich 'Turnerbadbrunnen'. After the war, the swimming pool fell into disrepair and was finally leveled during the construction of the former federal road B50 (the southern section of the Eisenstädter Straße between Oberwart and Fehring has been called Güssinger Straße B57 since 1.1.1973).

In addition to the Turnerbad, there was also free bathing pleasure in the weirs of the Zickenbach (Zinky weir) and the Strembach above the mill.

After the war, on March 7, 1951, the municipal council decided to build a new swimming pool. In spring 1960, according to the plans of the winners of the competition, the architect couple E. and H. Rottleutner, the new building was started. The outdoor swimming pool was ceremonially opened on July 14, 1963.
